Wait-Services: A Client's Journey

Waiting for an installation, or a repair, or an in-home service--doesn't it seem as if the only time these services can be scheduled is at the least convenient time? Rather than take time away from your work or other important activities, why not let ChoreVoyant do the waiting?! In this blog, we will outline the benefits of having a personal concierge handle the details of installations/repairs/services, and explain our process for taking on the task of wait-services.
A Client's Journey: Handyman Services

I have a client in northern Bergen County, and she needs a handyman. She has talked to me about the task, but has not formally asked me to take on the project. However, I think we're getting closer to her following-through on the particular task--based on what I am seeing in my weekly visits to her home. When she's ready, this is what I, as a personal concierge, can do for her regarding the handyman's services:
- Provide options. A personal concierge has connections to all kinds of industries. In other words, "I've got someone for that!" I can give my client the names and contact information for 3-4 handyman services from all over Bergen County! I can recommend one that's located in Mahwah, and another in Glen Rock, and yet another in Englewood.
- Once the client selects the handyman that best fits her needs, I can set up the appointment. The client provides me with their ideal day and time, and I take care of the rest.
- I can be on-site to handle the service. My client is a mom who works outside the home; when she's not working, she's serving as a class mom, taking her child to various afterschool activities, or making memories with her family and friends. With personal concierge services from ChoreVoyant, she can have the tasks that call for other in-home professionals--pictures hung, carpets cleaned, wifi-upgrades installed--without actually having to interrupt her daily schedule. I can be there to let the technician into the house, take care of payment, and to lock things up when he or she leaves!
- On-site and on-task. When I am in a client's home for a particular task or service, I am happy to handle anything else that may need doing--like making beds, folding laundry, or bringing empty recycling cans back from the curb. When you hire ChoreVoyant for wait-services, we don't waste a single minute. We take care of any other task that we see during that time, because our goal is to make your day simplified.
Wait-Services and Project Management: A Winning Combination

ChoreVoyant offers a combination of wait-services and project management. Ever wish you had someone to attend to the details of a renovation project in real time, not after the fact? Let me give an example from my own personal experience:
Larry and I recently had a renovation done on our home. However, most of the work was done during a very busy time for us. I was out in the field with clients, and Larry was working in his business, Lawrence Financial Services, serving his accounting clients. Neither one of us was available to meet with the workmen and speak with them about how particular aspects of the project were going. While ultimately everything turned out fine, there were some small hiccups that could have been avoided had we been able to check in on them as the work was being completed, as opposed to the end of their workday. A project manager onsite would have been able to:
- Make sure that appropriate paint colors were used in each room
- Serve as a liaison between the contractor/workmen, designer, outside vendors, and the client--providing clear communication and facilitating solutions to any problems that arose
- Report daily progress to all stakeholders
If we had a personal concierge to serve in this capacity, those small hiccups or bumps in the road could have been avoided. Having someone on-site to manage the delivery of appliances and hardware, to make sure all parties were aware of every aspect of the project could have saved us both time and money in the long run, and allowed for a smoother workflow for the contractor and his subcontractors, such as the plumber and electrician. All parties would have been "in the loop," and probably would have had a happier experience of working with each other. No one likes to admit it, but miscommunications can create hard feelings and mistrust. As clients, we could see that everyone was working in good faith, but those miscommunications proved problematic for the professionals involved. Nothing earth-shattering, just annoyances for them, that could have been avoided had someone like a personal concierge "ran interference" between the parties.
What Are You "Waiting" For?

As you can see from the examples given above, ChoreVoyant's wait-services provide more than just a pulse and a payment method in your absence. If you are expecting a repair, a service, or an installation that does not call for our active involvement, we can take care of any other in-home task that needs to be taken care of. If you are looking for someone who can take on the task from its inception--providing you with vendors from which to choose, coordinating with them and any others involved in the project, and being on-site for that coordination--to its completion, ChoreVoyant can provide full attention to all of the details and clearly communicate with everyone involved in a timely manner. This is just one aspect of our household management services that helps Bergen County families in dealing with the daily grind.
